Three people were killed in three separate accidents during two deadly days on Southwest Florida roadways.

Early Monday morning, a Chevrolet pickup truck hit a tree and spun out of control just south of Veterans Park in Lehigh Acres. The 2 a.m. crash killed driver Rojelio Villarreal, 22.  The Florida Highway Patrol is still investigating the crash. Read more.

A few hours later, a man was found dead in his truck after being trapped inside for as many as six hours following a crash, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The man, who has not yet been identified, was found about 6 a.m. off Bermot Road, a few miles west of SR-31, reported NBC-2.com.

However, people living in the area said they heard a noise around 11 p.m. Sunday but they didn’t see anything. In the morning, they found the truck in the woods. The truck struck a culvert, travelled in the air about 50 yards then rolled into the woods before hitting a tree. Read more.

In another crash, a bicyclist was killed Sunday around noon when he was hit by a car near Daniels Parkway and Cross Creek Boulevard in south Fort Myers. The bicyclist, James Chelius, 61, a Southwest Florida attorney, was attempting to cross the road when a car traveling in the center lane hit him. He died a few hours later at Lee Memorial Hospital. It is unknown what caused the first two single-vehicle accidents. In the third crash, the bicyclist was determined to be at fault. These were all likely avoidable tragedies if the proper safety precautions were followed. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration offers some tips to help keep you safe on the roadways.
