Tracy Morgan is one of the top Google searches and the news of the accident he was involved in over the weekend has been all over television, radio and newspapers. It’s a tragic situation that could have happened anywhere.

Tracy Morgan is still in the hospital recovering from his injuries and his friend and fellow comedian James McNair was killed. Three others were injured in the crash on the New Jersey turnpike in Mercer County on Saturday.

The driver of a Walmart tractor-trailer, Kevin Roper, 35, of Jonesboro, Georgia, failed to see slow moving traffic in front of him and swerved at the last minute but struck the back of a limo bus, according to authorities. The limo bus spun and overturned. Four other vehicles were involved.

Roper was charged with one count of death by auto and four counts of assault by auto. A criminal complaint filed in the case alleges Roper had been awake for more than 24 hours.  Read more about the crash.

This crash is an important reminder to everyone about the dangers we face every time we get in a car. Car crashes get a great deal of attention when famous people are involved but car crashes impact the lives of people in Southwest Florida and throughout the nation every day.
