Friends and family are mourning the death of a Cape Coral teen killed when he was hit by a car while riding his bike on Friday. Meanwhile, many community members are concerned about bicycle safety in north Cape Coral.

Austin Dukette, 15 was riding his bike along Kismet Parkway when he was hit by a Lee County Sheriff’s Deputy’s car. Witnesses said there were no sidewalks, bike paths or shoulders along the road in that area. Read more.

Some community members attended the Cape Coral City Council meeting on Monday night to discuss their concerns about the lack of sidewalks and general bicycle and pedestrian safety in the area.
